Boat's has been a part of the Pella community since the late 19th century when the building housed Awtry & Lankema, a combined furniture store/funeral home. After narrowing the scope of the business to home furnishings, the store became Boat's Home Furnishings in 1938. As a store, Boat's always believed in selling quality products. While other businesses began to match the products found in commodity stores, Boat's Home Furnishings maintained its product line and never skimped on quality.
