Herman's Furniture & Design, a family-owned furniture and interior design store since 1949, offers a large selection of furniture and interior design solutions for your home. From furniture for the living room, kitchen, dining room, and bedroom, to mattresses, area rugs, custom window treatments, and accessories, we are here to help you design the perfect home for you on your budget. With over 70 years behind us, we have expert level knowledge of the industry and provide you with the outstanding service that you deserve. We proudly feature American made upholstery, an HGTV Home Design Studio at our Avon Lake location, and a La-Z-Boy Comfort Studio at our Sandusky location. Herman's Furniture & Design began in 1949 when Lou Grad and Rudy Klemperer purchased the business from Ralph Herman. The pair chose to retain the name due to the long-standing history of the business. In the early 1950s, Lou and Rudy took an innovative approach and began offering their customers in-home design services. This service has remained a cornerstone of Herman's Furniture to this day. Lou and Rudy's approach to customer service, including their emphasis on in-home design, continued under the leadership of the second generation. In 1997, Joe Dandurand was hired as manager. In 2012, Herman's opened a design studio in Avon Lake, Ohio, to serve customers in the Cleveland area. That same year, Joe purchased the Grad family's share of the business. He continues as manager and designer for both stores. Most recently, Herman's moved to a newly-renovated space behind the Sandusky Mall. This new store offers not only a more beautiful space but also a more central location.
