Robert Zizzo opened his first Modlife Home store in 2004 in Chicago's North Center neighborhood. As a result of its enormous success, he opened his second store/showroom in Lakeview in late 2006 and launched the first modlifehome.com website. In 2012 Modlife Home introduced its interior design services, moved the store's inventory to a warehouse in Chicago's West Town neighborhood and began selling its furnishings on 1stdibs and Chairsh. By 2020 Modlife Home's interior design services grew to about 50% of its overall business and moved into a larger warehouse in the Ravenswood neighborhood.
